The Best Pizza in Dordrecht
Search for the best pizza in Dordrecht and you get ten results, all of them from a site that has never eaten a pizza: Tripadvisor, Yelp, a delivery app, a restaurant aggregator ranking places it has aggregated. The numbers are averages of strangers, and the lists are as long as the software can make them.
This one is three pizzerias, because three is how many we have eaten at and rated well. It is short on purpose, and it will get longer as we eat.
The best pizza in Dordrecht at a glance
| # | Place | Address | What to order | Our rating | What we paid |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Otto e Mezzo | Vismarkt 1 | Pizza felini, and the meatballs | 4.7 / 5.0 | EUR 19 / EUR 16 |
| 2 | Resto Pronto | Dubbeldamseweg Zuid 81 | Pizza borromea | 4.5 | Not logged |
| 3 | Pizzeria Olivia | Vriesestraat 150 | Pizza Napoli | 4.3 | EUR 17 (mozzarella) |
1. Otto e Mezzo: the best pizza in the city, and get the meatballs too
Vismarkt 1. The pizza felini is the best pizza we have eaten in this city, at 4.7 and EUR 19. Worth knowing before you order it: it has no tomato sauce, which makes it read closer to a flammkuchen than to a Napoletana. One of us loved it and the other would rather have had a different pizza on the menu, and that is a real split rather than a hedge.
The meatballs are very good too, at 5.0 and EUR 16: half beef half pork in a jus good enough that the bread alongside stops being a garnish. Our note at the time was 10/10 and we stand by it. Order them with the pizza rather than instead of it.
This is exactly the case for rating dishes instead of restaurants. Otto e Mezzo shows up in every Dordrecht pizza listing as a pizzeria with one number next to it, and one number cannot tell you there is a plate of meatballs on the same menu you would be sorry to miss.
2. Resto Pronto: the borromea
Dubbeldamseweg Zuid 81. Out of the centre, and the one we would send someone to for a straightforwardly good Italian pizza. The pizza borromea rated 4.5. The meat pizza came in at 4.0, and honestly it got better with an unreasonable quantity of chipotle sauce over it, which we accept is not how it is meant to be eaten.
3. Pizzeria Olivia: good pizza, centre prices
Vriesestraat 150. The pizza Napoli rated 4.3, with anchovy, and it was creamier than expected in a good way. The mozzarella pizza rated 4.0 on genuinely fresh ingredients, garlic on the crust and cherry tomatoes with real flavour.
Worth knowing before you go: that mozzarella pizza was EUR 17, which is the upper end for this style in Dordrecht. The ingredients account for a good deal of that, and it is the one thing to weigh when you are choosing between the three.
Why the list is three long
Because we have eaten at three and rated them 4.0 or above. There are more pizzerias in Dordrecht, several of them well regarded, and they are not here because we have not been, not because they are bad.
A ten-item list of pizzerias in a city this size is either somebody else's data or invented. We would rather run three we can answer questions about. The page grows as we eat, the same way our Dordrecht city guide has.
Keep track of what you order, not just where you go
The meatballs at Otto e Mezzo are the argument for this page existing. A single venue score flattens a whole menu into one number, and that number cannot tell you what to order once you are sitting down. Rating per dish keeps the useful part.
Crumble is the app we built for that: place, dish, rating, price if you have it. Our guide to keeping track of restaurants covers the method, and the wishlist side handles the pizzerias you still owe yourself.
Frequently asked questions
What is the best pizza in Dordrecht?
The pizza felini at Otto e Mezzo, Vismarkt 1, which we rated 4.7 at EUR 19. Order it knowing it has no tomato sauce, so it eats closer to a flammkuchen than a Napoletana. The meatballs on the same menu are excellent too, at 5.0 and EUR 16, so order both.
How much does a pizza cost in Dordrecht?
On our visits: EUR 19 for the felini at Otto e Mezzo and EUR 17 for a mozzarella pizza at Pizzeria Olivia. Seventeen euros for a simple pizza is at the top of the local range, which is worth knowing before you sit down. These are prices we paid and they move.
Why are there only three pizzerias on this list?
Because we have eaten at three and rated them 4.0 or higher. Dordrecht has more pizzerias, some of them well regarded, and they are absent because we have not been rather than because they are bad. A ten-name list for a city this size would have to come from somebody else’s data.
Where is the best pizza outside Dordrecht centre?
Resto Pronto at Dubbeldamseweg Zuid 81. The pizza borromea rated 4.5 and it is the straightforwardly good Italian pizza of the three. It is a walk or a short ride from the historic centre.
Is this list based on Tripadvisor or Google reviews?
No. Every pizza here was eaten and logged by us at the time, with a rating on the individual pizza. Aggregator lists rank venues by an average across all dishes and all visitors, which is why they cannot tell you which dish to order once you are at the table.
